The University Club of Denver is a historic treasure in downtown Denver. After being invited to dine there one night, my wheels started turning as I saw all the hidden potential in the once sterile dining room. Appreciating all the old detail and character in historical homes and logging in many miles in antique stores, this was right in my wheelhouse! Six months later, my vision became reality as I transformed it into a cozy, intimate space worthy of its history. A hip and cozy lounge area for lingering occupies a once unused space. I created a gallery wall by framing old 12th night programs – sparking memories and initiating fun conversation. The main focal point is the unusual decoupaged wall that anchors the lounge area. I wallpapered pages from antique books and memorandums that were falling apart, to incorporate a sense of history and play up the library feel. Re-purposed furniture from other areas in the club add richness and warmth. White china in the hutch was swapped out with beautiful antique books and memorabilia. Newly upholstered chairs and textured table settings make a big impact and saved a lot of money. Now the room glows with conversation and has a fresh new life it deserves!
